Tulane Medical Center, an acclaimed teaching, research and medical facility, serving the greater New Orleans area,
began in 1834 as a small, medical college with seven faculty members. Tulane Medical Center’s mission is to continue their tradition of excellence and expertise in providing the best quality care, education and research through the combined resources of Tulane University Hospital and Clinic and the Tulane School of Medicine. As a top tier academic medical center, They will continue to build a framework of innovation and unbounded success by being the provider of choice and the employer of choice.

The women and men who donate their time and special skills to Tulane’s Volunteer Department are a valued resource and an important part of their health care team. They enrich lives of their patients, staff and visitors. While they do not replace their paid staff, the volunteers support and complement the services their staff provides. Volunteers help create and promote an understanding of Tulane Hospital and its quality care within the community.

Tulane’s Volunteer Director works hard to make the best use of each volunteer’s unique skills and talents, and assigns
or creates tasks to utilize these strengths. Volunteers commonly perform services such as dietary clerk, information desk receptionist, labor and delivery receptionist, nursing unit assistant, office assistant, radiology assistant, waiting room receptionist, and gift shop clerk, among other tasks.
